India Pale Ale meets a currywurst

Inspired by my last tour of Berlin and true to the motto “keep it simple”, I have paired an India Pale Ale with a currywurst for my blog Beer & Food Pairing. After all, it is said to have been invented in Berlin after the Second World War. I chose a fresh, coarse bratwurst for the sausage. I refined the curry sauce with a little Worcester sauce and Tabasco. It was accompanied by the mild ROAR IPA from the Rügener Inselbrauerei at 7.3% vol; brewed with the hop varieties Magnum, Sabro, Huell Melon, Citra and Galaxy. For me, the tropical, fruity flavour went perfectly with the curry sauce. I was able to visit the Rügen Island Brewery once in 2021; you should definitely do the same if you’re ever on the island.
